My Art Evolves Every Day

My Art Evolves Every Day

Ok, I admit it, I went a little crazy with this new art project. I have created seven of them in the past four days. I mentioned on social media that I discovered this new  way to use all my test prints to create some unique pieces of art.

When I first started my website, I was looking for a company to print and ship reproductions of my work. I thought it was a good way to get my art out into the world in a less expensive form so it would appeal to more people. It turned out to be more expensive than I thought it would. More on that in an upcoming post.

I tried out several companies looking for the highest quality work for the best prices. There is a lot of crap out there. I finally settled on a company, but I had a lot of prints in my possession and some were not really in sellable condition.

I follow several artists online. They all are very different in how they approach their art and the mediums they use. However, I don’t follow any artists that create work that looks realistic. While it’s cool that they have that ability and the work looks amazing, I find it kind of boring. When I look at realistic art, I see what could be captured with a camera. Anyone can do that. I really enjoy art with personality. Wonky lines. Imagination when it comes to colors. Some  abstract in a normal scene. But, I digress. Back to the subject.

One of the artists I follow, gave me the idea to enhance these prints by attaching them to a piece of painted wood and glazing them with an acrylic base. Then use an acrylic thickening gel to create texture on the print. I have used clear thickening gel and have added color to others to make each print unique and really give them personality.

These are still a lot of work, but I’m having a blast doing them. And the best part is I’m able to use all those test prints to create something new and unique.

P.s. I’ve started a new YouTube channel. See it here: https://youtu.be/jQLRCOxDfaw
